"I Am the Bread of Life," John 6:22-40.

1. Jesus is the source of life: “I am the bread of life.”

2. Jesus is the Sustainer of Life

Bread is used as a symbol for Christ here in three passages:

• This bread is true, (v. 32) Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

• This bread is free, (v. 32) “my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

See (Hebrews 10:26-31)

• This bread is Divine, (v. 33) For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

• This Bread is life-giving, (v. 33) This “bread of God…. giveth life.

• This Bread is plentiful, (v. 33) “The bread of God…giveth life unto the world."

• This Bread is desired, (v. 34) Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

• This Bread is Christ, (v. 35) “I am the bread of life.”

3. Jesus is the Satisfaction of Life.

“he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”

Christ, He fills you to the brim and completely satisfies. Psalms 23
